How To Force The Oil Companies To Lower The Price Of Gas

Forcing A Change Within The Oil Industry

The cost of gasoline is skyrocketing, yet we continuously deal with the prices these companies set. Of course, their prices are based on projections from investors rather than the supply and demand of the consumers.

People keep coming up with ideas to lower the costs, thinking they will send shockwaves throughout the oil industry. The problem is, we are in love with our vehicles and cannot find the time to follow through with the ideas at hand. For example, one idea was for everyone to ignore the gas pumps for a day. This is not going to force the magnates to change their game plans, since we cannot seem to go through with our threats. The reason, they know we will have to get gas some time. Therefore, they have us over the barrel...sorry about the pun, but it is true.

A retired employee from Halliburton offered an alternative solution. Conceivably more sound than the previous idea mentioned. His idea is actually sound. He makes a rational point when he makes a point of saying we need to buy from the smaller mom and pop gas stations, rather than purchasing from the larger oil companies. Think about it, while we would still be paying ridiculous costs of gas, the large companies will not be seeing the profit. This means they would have no choice but to lower their prices. Of course, the mom and pop stores will have to follow suit. So if we were to continue purchasing from the smaller gasoline companies, we would be putting high pressure on the larger name brands.

Instead of purchasing from Exxon Mobil, Shell, Chevron, and BP, we would find alternate places to purchase gas from. Places like Sheetz, Giant Eagle GetGo, and Convenient stores offering gasoline would be ideal places to stop for gas.

I would like to add further insult to injury. Google's Adsense charge companies to display their ads. So, if we start pumping our gas at the smaller companies and everyone was to click on any Oil Companies ads then we could make a major impact on the decision of these companies to lower their prices.

Okay, I want to put this in perspective. We no longer purchase from well known oil companies. All their business is being redirected to the lesser known competitors. Now, imagine if they are being charge $.01 every time someone clicks on their Google ad.

If 50 million people were to click on their google ad, that would cost them $500,000. Guess what, they will quickly figure out we mean business.

In many ways, I cannot help but feel somewhat like our forefathers. Men who got together to determine how best to serve our country. In a way, this reminds me a bit of Poor Richard's Almanac, except the oil magnates are the new face of oppression.

If we are going to make something like this work, we need the full cooperation of the world. I am calling this the Rise and Shine campaign, because it only takes one person to wake up with a whole new idea to make a difference. We need to ensure as many people as possible read this and take the appropriate action. Heck, we do not have anything to lose by trying.

Help Lower The Costs of Gas

$4.33 a gallon is ridiculous and we shouldn't have to tolerate it.

Assuming everyone linked together and actually put forth the required couple of clicks here and there, it could be 100% successful.

But I think that 500,000 is peanuts to those giants!

That may be, but now imagine those peanuts become a daily figure, so for one week's span we would be looking at 3.5 million. Now that will make anyone stand up and take notice, right?

Well I'll tell you one thing. This pain in our wallets is forcing many to conserve fuel which is good for our planet. Global warming is a real threat. Hope alternative fuel sources and "green" electricity methods will become more commonplace soon. Seems it only accelerates when it becomes profitable. It's economics 101.

scoop 5 years ago

Good article to bad that some of the ads on here do not tell you how to make your own gas.

Now, now, scoop. Here's a great way to create our own gas, it incorporates beef, beans, peppers, and more beans...the best natural gas there is...

;-)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I think the best idea i've heard is to simply never fill your tank full, only half full.

The oil companies are literally using our auto gas tanks for a storage facility. If everyone only filled to the 1/2 point, this would create a huge surplus of gasoline and consequently force an artifical decrease in demand. Viola! overnight prices fall. Simple supply and demand. When supply is high and demand low, prices spiral downward

I just cost each of the 1 cent...yeeehaaaa..now the price of gas is going to go up.

Yes, the oil companies made 143 Billion dollars in profits last year. No, we will not unite and go for one day without buying gas. We are breathing a sign of relief because gas in my area is now 3.78 per gal. Have we forgotten what the price was a couple of years ago? Why not go for as long as we can without buying gas - whether it be one day, two, three, or a week. Why are we allowing the Oil Companies to control our lives? The cost of food, clothing, electricity, everything in our lives is rising because of higher oil prices. When are we going to just say NO?
